Street outreach is often the first point of connection for many of our participants before they engage with our services, such as recovery groups or one-on-one support for addiction challenges. Through outreach, we meet people where they are, build trust, and introduce them to the resources and support systems available to help them on their journey to recovery.
Project worker Brian shares an update on how the outreach efforts have been going this summer:
Over the past six weeks, we’ve been conducting outreach in Drumchapel, Easterhouse, and Parkhead, and the warm reception we’ve received in these communities has been incredibly encouraging. We’ve connected with several individuals seeking help, and many others have taken flyers and asked for information about our services to share with family, friends, or neighbors. Local business owners and charities have also been supportive, requesting flyers or posters to display and distribute.
It’s clear that these areas, like many others in Scotland, face challenges related to drug and alcohol addiction. However, what’s particularly heartening in Drumchapel, Easterhouse, and Parkhead is the willingness of local residents—whether they’re business owners, charity workers, or everyday people—to acknowledge these issues and eagerly offer their support in any way they can.
