Hello everyone, my name is Scott, and I’d like to share my Good News Story. Just 15 months ago, my life was a world away from what it is now.
I grew up with a difficult start, which led me down a tough path from an early age. I experimented with alcohol around age 11, then quickly moved on to drugs like cannabis. That opened the door to all kinds of other substances, and by adulthood, drugs and alcohol had taken over my life. Heroin and crack addiction, police, and prison were my reality. I found myself cycling in and out of prison, relying on methadone, and feeling as though I had lost everything, including my children. I felt like giving up.

On March 15, 2023, I left prison, hoping it would be for the last time. I had every intention to change, but the familiar pull of drugs took hold again. A few weeks went by, and my hope was quickly fading. Then, one day in Paisley, I met a woman named Ruth Greenhalgh from Street Connect. She reached out with compassion, offering hope that I could change my life. I began meeting Ruth at Kilnside Evangelical Church and that’s where my journey to healing truly started.
Through Ruth and another person named Martin Begley, I heard about God’s love and began to see the possibility of a new life. A few weeks later, I was accepted into The Haven in Kilmacolm. For the past 15 months, I’ve been clean from drugs and alcohol and have worked to build a meaningful relationship with God. I feel like a new person.
This journey has been the greatest decision I’ve ever made, and now I know the Lord on a personal level. I’m grateful for this new path and am committed to following the teachings of Jesus in all that I do moving forward.
