The Glasgow Kiltwalk is taking place on Sunday 30th April 2023, a great opportunity for those who would like to support what we do by raising vital funds for our work to continue.

David, who oversees some project locations and helps with the partnerships will be joining this year with his family. They will be taking part in the 3 mile journey and wanted to share advice to those who might be interested in taking part:

“This will be my second kiltwalk. I’m doing it with my wife and grandchildren this time. This is all for a great cause, every penny counts and the money will be there to help some of the most vulnerable people in the communities that are around us. That’s where the money goes. Bottom line this helps to save lives.

Think about your capabilities. Its not about the distance but the event and getting involved. Why not get involved? This is a great way to raise Street Connect’s profile and raise those vital funds for a great cause” – David

Why do we need your help?

Addiction is strongly tied-in to multiple deprivation – In 2021 people in the most deprived 20% were more than 15 times more likely to have a drug misuse death and  6 times more likely to die from alcohol-related illness

Over 25% of Glaswegians live in areas of high deprivation, highest percentage of any city in Scotland. Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation [SMID] 2023).

By getting involved and signing up on behalf of us, you will be helping us tackle these troubling statistics and help to make a difference to those who need to see hope for their recovery.

Getting involved takes a few simple steps:

  • Choose the route you will be doing.
  • Gather your friends and family who will be walking alongside you.
  • Contact us to get the promo code to sign up.
  • Download the Kiltwalk app to receive live updates on the day, as well as maps and useful tips.
  • Spread the word! Let people know you will be taking part in the Kiltwalk on behalf of Street Connect and why you are. This is a great way to encourage more people to come along, the more people the more fun it will be. Lets make a great day out of it!

We will be having an online meetup on Thursday 30th March at 7.30pm, a great chance to meet other Kiltwalkers and share how we are all getting ready! (Let us know if you are free to join and will send you over the zoom link).

Who will you be bringing?

What distance are you choosing and how are you preparing? Let us know! We would love to hear from you.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.
