How do we care for our souls in the midst of the stresses and struggles of everyday life?
We can see that Paul’s prayer to the Church in Ephesus gives us some invaluable guidelines to follow. Have a read at Ephesians 3 v 14 – 21
Paul’s posture of Humility
In verse 14, we see Paul kneeling before the Father. A great reminder for ourselves that we are nothing without God. The bible teaches us that we have no good within us, that is in the flesh. The only good we have is the goodness of Christ that God has worked in our hearts by the power of His Holy Spirit. Dependency on God is the key.
Verse 16 reminds us that God is a God of abundance, God has an unlimited supply of spiritual life and power which he longs to pour out upon every thirsty soul. God’s goodness is available to us today, when we go to God and come as we are.
Power of the Holy Spirit
In verse 16, Paul prays that we will be strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Praise God for the work of the Holy Spirit who brings us to the crucified Christ so that Christ’s death for our sins becomes our death to our sin. As we walk by faith in the written and in the living word we can join Paul in his experience in Galatians 2:20
“For I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me, the life I now live in the body I live by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me”.
God becomes our Wisdom, righteousness, Holiness and Redemption (see 1 Corinthians 1:30) we are then able to come into grow into the fullness of God.
God can do immeasurable more than we can ask or imagine.
Verses 20 -21 is the climax to Paul’s prayer, with the resurrected Christ now dwelling in our hearts. Through faith we become an unstoppable force for the Glory of God, is there anything God cannot do through a life that’s completely yielded to Him? His resurrected life flows freely though every part of our being Spirit, Soul & Body bringing us into a place of wellness and wholeness. We can be whole and well by God’s grace today.
True soul care starts and ends with Jesus. We can trust Him to care and guide us. Why not invite him into your life today? Get plugged into a church community. See what God’s word says about your future and be excited about where God can take you!
